Greene Family | Geist Park Family Portraits

Greene_ChristinaBW-21.JPG

It was a gorgeous late October day when I got to meet up with the Greene family for an extended family portrait session. It is such a feat to get an extended family portrait session together, so I was so impressed with Christina. She pulled this family session together for her siblings, their parents, HER parents and all the grandkids! It was so much fun to be their photographer!

Extended Family Photography

For this extended family session, we decided to stay close, taking pictures in their Hamilton County neighborhood and nearby Geist Park. Geist Park is such a great location for family photos. With 17 acres of wetlands, nature trails and prairies, there are plenty of backdrops for photos and plenty of wide-open spaces for kiddos to run!

The adults had practiced with the kids on what to do when a camera showed up, so they were all enthusiastic smiles! We were able to knock out all the “must-have” groupings within 15 minutes. With a big group like this, it was important to stay organized to make sure that I had all the pictures of Christina and her family, her siblings, and of course… the grandparents (Mammaw and Pappaw) with their sweet grandchildren: Jackson, Ryder, Calvin and Cora.

I loved getting to see the generations as they interacted together. I could definitely see the family resemblance, especially when I got Christina together with her siblings and parents. It was so wonderful to be able to have the whole family together like this, laughing and smiling together.

Once we had all the “must-have” formal family portraits… everyone relaxed. It was time for some fun photos with lots of interaction! All the personalities really came out—especially with the kids. Cora, however, was NOT terribly excited toward the end of the portrait session. She had everyone laughing as she stomped off, hands on hips and full of attitude, during the middle of her solo shots.

Keepsake Family Photo Albums

After the portrait session, Christina and her siblings purchased a gorgeous album for Mammaw and Pappaw. That way, they can keep and enjoy these photos and memories with the kiddos every time they visit. They also purchased a large piece of wall art capturing the entire family for them to enjoy on their wall every day. It makes me so happy when my clients print out their photos so they can see and appreciate them every day!

All in all, this was an exciting extended family portrait session with lots of love, silliness, and hugs between everyone. Thank you so much, Christina for arranging this and for asking me to be your family photographer!

Why Printed Photos Make Amazing Holiday Gifts

Why-Printed-Photos-Make-Amazing-Holiday-Gifts-Indy-Family-Photos_0001.jpg

Now that December has arrived, people everywhere start thinking about the holidays. Christmas will be here before we know it! One of the best gifts for the holidays is the gift of printed photos. It’s one of the most heartfelt gifts for the holidays because it is a gift of love, laughter and memory. The best way to celebrate your family photos is to hang them on your wall, where you will see them and enjoy them every single day. Why not share that joy? When you give the gift of printed photos, you are sharing a moment in time. Here are a few reasons why printed photos make amazing holiday gifts.

Reasons Why Printed Photos Make Amazing Holiday Gifts

Everyone loves a photo of their loved ones — you can’t go wrong! Parents and grandparents especially can never get enough photos of their kids and grandkids. Children grow so quickly, and photographs are a way to capture the magic and joy of childhood. When you print out your family photos, you can enjoy that memory every day!

While toys, clothes and other material items are fun, photos celebrate what the holidays are truly about — family. The gift of printed photos will be enjoyed for so much longer than a gift card to a favorite restaurant or store. A printed and nicely framed photograph will be treasured for years to come.

Are you looking for something more experience-based? Photo albums are a great way to enjoy your favorite memories over and over again. Every time you snuggle together to look through the images, you’ll relive and remember the fun you had together as a family. This is such a wonderful way to remind children of their place in the family. Looking at family photos together in a photo album can help to show children that they are a part of the family. It can help them know they belong. Child psychologist David Krauss says in a study titled Phototherapy in Mental Health: “I think it is really important to show a family as a family unit. It is so helpful for children to see themselves as a valued and important part of that family unit.” Seeing themselves with their family in a moment when they are loved and happy is so valuable to a child! Even small children can appreciate looking at photographs and reviewing faces of loved ones who are far away. Don’t underestimate the power of printed photos and the happiness they bring.

Full-Service Family Photography

Indy Family Photo is a full-service photography studio, meaning we won’t leave you hanging to figure this all out on your own! We can help you print photos you already have, or, purchase a session as a gift for your loved ones this holiday season. We’ll complete your portraits with albums, wall art, or any other display items you might desire.

Every time I go visit my parents, one of my favorite things to do is pull out the old family photo albums. Our kids are one of the most photographed generations — let’s make sure those photos are around for them to enjoy when they grow up and have left to start off on their own lives!

If you are interested in a printed photo consultation or if you’d like to book a photo session as a gift, please make sure to contact me or drop on into the Indy Family Photo Studio to say hello!

MJ & The Traveling Dress Project

Final Becky-22.JPG

Little Dreamers Tutus is a couture dress designer who has put together a number of dresses for The Traveling Dress Project. I was really excited to see this and jumped on signing up for as many gowns as possible! The model for the first dress is seven-year-old MJ, who is a total dreamer with the most amazing imagination. I loved photographing her around the Fort Ben area!

Princess Dress Photography: A Little Girl’s Dream

The first dress that we were able to work with was the Alyssa gown in dark olive swiss dot. This dress was super gorgeous, with an extremely full skirt and generous ruffle. The way the dress is laced means that it works for several sizes in either direction (for reference, this is a size 8). MJ LOVED twirling, holding it up to walk, and imagining what life would be like if she were a princess. We talked about who her friends would be, how she would spend her days, what clothes she would wear, and how she would help fix up her country.

For this Traveling Dress photography session, we took pictures at the Indy Family Photo Studio and the areas right around it. Since we are located by Fort Ben, there are LOTS of beautiful areas to work with. I took advantage of some of the different backdrops in the area so we could have some creative shots. MJ spun around in the trees and she looked like she had stepped from the pages of a fairy tale. We used a crown from our dress-up trunk, and MJ swished her way down a stone walkway. Even though our portraits weren’t actually taken on the steps of her palace, they looked like they could have been! As it turns out, there is a lack of castles in Indianapolis… Everyone driving by slowed down to catch a glimpse of our little princess. It was an AMAZING experience for all of us (MJ, her mom, and me) to enjoy and play.

Childhood should be filled with magical moments. I am so happy that I was able to be part of The Traveling Dress Project to capture these images for Princess MJ! The joy and happiness she had in wearing this dress and taking these photos is something I am so glad I was able to photograph. That’s the best part of being a child photographer: celebrating the lives of these precious kiddos and helping them hold onto the magic in every day.

6 Reasons to Move Your Family Portraits Inside Your Own Home

6-Reasons-Family-Portraits-Inside-Home-Indy-Family-Photo_0001.jpg

While I adore photographing at the beautiful Indy Family Photo Studio, I love when families schedule portrait sessions inside their own homes. When I look back through family photo albums, I am always the most struck by images taken in and around the houses I grew up in. There aren't very many of these photos, which makes them all the more important.

The Beauty of In-Home Family Portraits

You see… those trips we took to state parks, mountains, museums, etc. — they were all important. But playing in my house with brother and sister and parents — THOSE are the memories and moments that make me who I am today. I only have a few memories of the first houses I was in — the brown house with the beautiful deck, the gray house with the treehouse, and the armchair that I loved in all of them. But looking at photos from those times helps fill in other moments of my childhood.

It may be cliché, but home truly is where the heart is. I love when I can photograph my client sessions in their own homes. With that in mind, I wanted to share six reasons why you should consider moving your family portrait session inside your home!

Reasons to Move your Family Portrait Session to your home

1. The comfort of their own home

When I meet you in your home, you have a home-field advantage. Right away, everyone is more comfortable. There’s no need to get used to the studio! Your children are in their space. Since they are already comfortable and at ease, their natural expressions and characteristics can shine.

2. Eliminate Weather Worries

With an in-home family photoshoot, we don’t need to worry about weather! And, even if the weather is “good enough” for an outdoor photoshoot, we’d still have to deal with wind, bugs, runny noses, wet shoes, and too much sun — all factors that can pose a challenge. Having a family portrait session in your home means that we can control those natural factors.

3. Take a Moment to Slow Down

If your little ones need to take a moment for themselves, it’s easier for you AND the kids — your children can feel safe, but also be able to easily grab a snack, go snuggle in their bed (or yours!), have a bottle, change outfits, or throw a tantrum — or anything else! — without the stress of everything being public

4. Cherish the Memories of Home

You’ve taken so much time and care to build your house into a loving and beautiful place. Your home should be celebrated! Within those walls, precious memories are built. Plus, you’ve spent time and money decorating your home as well! Capturing your home in a family photo session allows you to truly celebrate and document the home you love.

5. Create Priceless Family Heirlooms

Your children will LOVE these photos when they’re older! Most of us only have traditional family portraits, photos taken outside, or vacation/event photos. Professionally photographing your children in your home gives them beautiful photos to look back on when they are older, and even to share with their own children and grandchildren. Memories of the homes we grow up in can fade over the years, so having professional portraits can preserve those memories. When printed out, those memories become heirlooms.

6. Capture the Magic of Childhood

We’ll capture playtime. Here at Indy Family Photo, we firmly believe in the importance of the magic of childhood, which includes LOTS of make-believe play. One day, your children won’t engage in pretending anymore — and we want to make sure we’ve captured that magical time before it slips away.

Family Portrait Photography in your home

As a child and family photographer, I realized that children act differently around a camera when I'm in "their territory" — their home, their play-space, and their rooms. They are more comfortable, at ease and confident. They slip into their natural personalities more easily. They show me their REAL smiles and expressions more quickly. They show me who they really are. And really, that is what us parents truly want documented. Real emotions. Real smiles. Real moments. Not cheesy, fake grins and forced poses. Having a family portrait session in your home makes it easy to do.

The Nemeth Family Portraits | The War Memorial in Downtown Indianapolis

The-Nemeth-Family-Portraits-Indy-Family-Photo_0001.jpg

One of the most precious things about a photograph is how it captures a moment in time. When families choose me to be their photographer, I can stop time for them—even just for a moment. I am so happy to be able to share these photos from my latest session with the Nemeth family. It was such a pleasure to be able to capture this special family portrait session for them at the War Memorial in downtown Indianapolis.

War Memorial Family Portrait Session

This beautiful family of five met up with me at the War Memorial for this portrait session. The War Memorial was a special location for Mom (Nicole) and Dad (Peter). They had a number of their wedding portraits taken here ten years ago. But now, in honor of their ten-year anniversary, they returned to the War Memorial with their three beautiful children: Elizabeth, Victoria, and Jude.

For their portrait session, everyone got dressed up. Peter and Jude wore outfits from a recent wedding. I was able to provide Dollcake gowns from for Elizabeth and Victoria from Darling Loves to match Mom!

We took some more formal family portraits, but I made sure to capture lots of other images so everyone could show their silly and unique personalities. The girls LOVED twirling in their dresses! All the girls had their hair done for the photoshoot, and they looked amazing. Jude loved showing off his BIG personality and "I'm the king" emotions when we were up on the monument bench. Victoria kept exclaiming "now take a photo of JUST ME, because I'M A MODEL", and would drape herself dramatically over the closest piece of architecture. Each of these three kids had such big, beautiful personalities. It was so much fun to photograph them!

Traditionally, an October photoshoot has crisp, cool fall weather to go along with it. But the weather for this family portrait session was unseasonably warm. It even broke some records! It was in the 90s with high humidity—even at 7pm! It was definitely not what autumn in Indiana feels like! Soon after we finished our photos, a storm rolled through!

Thank you so much to the Nemeth family! I am so happy I was able to capture this moment in time for you, especially at a place that held such importance to you and your family!

The Lund Family Lifestyle Photography Session

Lund-In-Home-Family-Lifestyle-Photography-Indy-Family-Photo_0001.jpg

As a child and family photographer, it is both a joy and a privilege to capture and document the precious moments of childhood. But what’s even better is when I can build a relationship with a family so I can photograph them through the years, sharing moments and documenting memories. When it comes to the Lund family, the relationship we have goes back much further. Amanda, the mom, has been my friend since seventh grade! I met up with Amanda, her husband, Stephen and their three children: Sam, Abby, and Matthew in their home for a family lifestyle photography session!

In-Home Family Lifestyle Photography

Originally, we planned on having this family portrait session outside at a park. But the weather did not agree. You know how it goes with Indiana weather! The winds were VERY high, so we went to their home instead, which was wonderful. Lifestyle photography sessions are a great way to be able to capture natural, candid moments. I get to meet the family in their own space, where they are the most relaxed. This results in real, genuine smiles, laughter, and reactions.

For this family lifestyle shoot, we picked a few activities that each of the family members love to do. Abby loves painting her mom’s nails and her own, so we started the session with that. Sam loves excavating dinosaur skeletons from his play archeological dig kit, so he and dad worked on digging together. Matthew loves snuggling in mom and dad’s bed, so we all piled onto the bed next and read a dinosaur book together! We also braved the wind and headed outside to take a few photos outside in the field near their home.

Mom wanted a special photo of each of the kiddos with their lovey in black and white. She hung these three portraits side by side in the hallway to forever celebrate their special relationships with their bunny blankets. All too often, photos stay on phones and thumb drives, so it really makes me happy to know these precious images will be seen and appreciated. Family photography sessions are all about capturing the magic of childhood, so I’m thankful I could be the photographer for this family lifestyle photography session!

Thank you, Amanda and Stephen, for inviting me into your home and into your lives!

Addison's Cake Smash Studio Session

Back in August, I had such a wonderful photo session with Lindsey and her sweet little girl, Addison. They met up with me at the Indy Family Photo studio for a cake smash photography session! I loved celebrating with these two beautiful ladies!

Milestone Photography: 1 Year Old Cake Smash Session

For Addison’s cake smash session, Lindsey brought a custom made, floral headband. Lindsey is a stay at home mom with sweet Addison, who was all smiles throughout the entire photo session! We started out the session with Addison in a beautiful dress. I took photos of Lindsey and Addison together. It’s so important to me to capture the precious moments between moms and their kiddos! I loved getting to take pictures of these two together.

Then, it was time for cake! The cake was from The Mad Batter was topped with a simple glitter topper from Amazon. Little Addison was very tidy with her cake eating. We had to encourage her to get a bit messy! Then she went all in! She even tried to take a bite out of the cake topper. Addison was a huge fan of the icing, in fact, after a bit, she was more interested in licking the stand than eating the cake. It was adorable!

Bubble Bath Photography

After the cake smash, we did a bubble bath in a white tub, which she LOVED! This little girl absolutely loved playing with bubbles, putting them on her face and hair. She didn't want to get out of the tub.

Addison-Cake-Smash-Indy-Family-Photo_0018.jpg

The minimalist white cake smash and bubble bath is timeless and coordinates perfectly with our studio baby photoshoots. These classic photos will never look trendy or dated. Whether hanging on the wall or printed in an album, these photos will stand the test of time. My goal as a child photographer is to capture these fleeting moments of childhood. A one-year-old cake smash session is the perfect way to document the joy and innocence of little ones as they explore and enjoy the world around them. Thank you so much to Lindsey for bringing her sweet little one to the studio for this cake smash session. Happy birthday, little one! I’m so happy to have met you!

If your child is turning one and you’re interested in scheduling a cake smash at the Indy Family Studio, please don’t hesitate to contact me! Let’s make some memories together!

Lola & Lillian Adventure Shoot

Lola-Lillian-Adventure-Shoot-Indy-Family-Photo_0001.jpg

Just last month, I was lucky enough to get to hang out with Lola and Lillian here in the Indy Family Photo Studio where I photographed their Adventure Shoot! I had so much fun with these two beautiful girls. I think this adventure session really captured the magic of childhood!

A Magical Adventure Photography Shoot

Mom reached out to me to arrange for something special for Lillian’s first birthday. She wanted to do something unique and very different from a run-of-the-mill portrait experience. I made sure to create a really fun adventure shoot for the girls, focusing on activities they would both enjoy. Adventure shoots are meant to create real smiles, real expressions, and real laughter. They are meant to celebrate childhood and all its magic, and I think we did just that.

Lola-Lillian-Adventure-Shoot-Indy-Family-Photo_0003.jpg

Lola is full of energy and very doting toward her younger sister. She LOVES princesses, so I made sure to rent the biggest princess dress I could find! As soon as Lola put on the dress, she just glowed. She loved twirling around and telling me what her life as a princess would be like. We pulled out some gold confetti, and both Lola and Lillian loved it!

Lola-Lillian-Adventure-Shoot-Indy-Family-Photo_0002.jpg

Lillian's favorite part of the shoot was painting. She kept eating the paint, getting disgusted at how it tasted… and then eating it again. She kept making the funniest little faces about it! Lola enjoyed the squishiness and slippery feeling of the paint between her toes. Lillian loved using her fingers to play with the paint.

Lola has SUPER strawberry hair, and those red highlights are the exact same color as her dad! Little sister Lillian is currently bright blonde, but it'll be exciting to see how her hair color changes as she gets older.

Lola-Lillian-Adventure-Shoot-Indy-Family-Photo_0004.jpg

I was so happy to photograph these two amazing little girls. I’m thrilled that mom reached out to me for this special way to commemorate Lillian’s birthday! If you are interested in customizing your own Adventure Shoot, please reach out to me! I would love to document the lives of your kiddos.

Baby William | In-Home Lifestyle Newborn Session

Baby-William-Newborn-Session-Indy-Family-Photo_0001.jpg

Introducing Baby William! I got to meet this baby boy for a newborn session in the family’s home. I am so happy Mom and Dad invited me into their home and into their lives to photograph this precious little boy.

In-Home Lifestyle Newborn Photography

I loved getting to know Matt, Talia and William. Matt, who has now been promoted to ‘Dad,’ is a surgeon and private pilot. He and Talia (Mom) decided to take a baby moon. When he was flying them off to their vacation location, the turbulence sent Talia into labor! So, baby William made his appearance pretty early! They had to spend some time in the NICU, but William is beautiful, perfect, and healthy. This newborn photography shoot took place in their home, in William’s nursery, soon after coming home from the hospital.

I was so impressed with this little guy during his newborn session! He was so alert! His big bright eyes were so expressive. William kept looking up into the camera lens as if to ask, “What IS this thing?” I photographed him with Mom and Dad, too. There was so much love in this little nursery.

The cats are not allowed in the nursery… and in some of the photos, you can see one of them sticking his paw under the door! His name is Spitz, and he loves being the center of attention. Clearly, he was feeling left out! I’m sure he’ll get used to his new role as ‘big brother’ soon!

Baby-William-Newborn-Session-Indy-Family-Photo_0002.jpg

Matt and Talia, thank you for inviting me into your home and into your lives so I could photograph your precious new addition. I’m so happy with how these beautiful photos of your brand-new family of three turned out.

Are you an expecting mother in the Indianapolis area? My photos capture the magic and joy of childhood. Whether you are looking for artistic newborn images or an in-home lifestyle session like this one, I would love to be your photographer! Please reach out for more information. If you can dream it, I can do it!

Baby Ryan | Newborn Studio Session

Baby-Ryan-Newborn-Session-Indy-Family-Photo_0001.jpg

Meet baby Ryan! Mom and Dad brought this sweet little newborn to the Indy Family Photo studio for his newborn photo session with his older brother Drew. I loved getting to meet this adorable family—now a family of four.

Studio Maternity and Newborn Sessions

I was fortunate enough to get to capture both maternity photos and a newborn session for this wonderful family. Steve (Dad) is the perfect dad-blend of hilarious and goofy, but also so visibly loving. Cara is kind, empathetic, and organized—all things you need to be when you are a mom of two boys! Big Brother Drew was six years old at the time of this photography shoot. He was so excited to be a big brother to Baby Ryan. Mom and Dad even let Drew pick out his baby brother’s middle name: Joseph.

Mom and Dad have gone through a lot to be blessed with these two sweet boys. I always tell Steve that he’s my favorite dad. He is HILARIOUS, and always has a good attitude, even about things he doesn’t want to do. He is an amazing father who loves to spend time with his boys. He takes Drew adventuring through the woods, fishing, to sporting events, and more. Cara is a stay at home mom, can beat Steve at a game of golf with one hand tied behind her back, and is active in the local community. She is thrilled with baby Ryan, who could not be a sweeter, happier baby!

Minimalistic Newborn Photography

For this shoot, the family came to the studio for a minimalistic newborn shoot. Minimalistic newborn photography is my favorite way to document this early stage of life — sweet, classic, and timeless. Plus, our historic studio has a cozy lifestyle feel, so it was the perfect backdrop for the photographs of this precious family session.

To enjoy their images, Mom and Dad chose a gorgeous white leather album and wall gallery of three portraits.

Cara shared that Drew LOVES to pull out the photo album to look through the pictures as often as possible. The three wall portraits are hanging up in the master bedroom. That makes these family images the first thing they see when waking up and the last thing they see when going to sleep!

Babies grow so quickly, and these beautiful moments at the start of a newborn’s life are so important to document, print out, and enjoy. These early days as a family of four are so precious. It makes me so happy to know that images from this sweet family session are being enjoyed every day.

Cara and Steve, thank you for allowing me to document these precious moments for you and your family. It is a joy and a privilege to photograph your family.

If you’re an Indianapolis mom-to-be looking to document this beautiful time in your life, please make sure to contact me! I would love the opportunity to preserve these moments for you!

Family Adventure Portraits: Jodie, Trent & Drake

Jodi-Trent-Drake-Family-Session-Indy-Family-Photo_0001.jpg

I recently had the chance to meet up with Jodi and her two sons, Trent and Drake for an energetic photo session at our studio in the Nickel Plate District in Fishers, Indiana. These boys were sweet, energetic, fun and had a great sense of humor. Mom won this photoshoot at a fundraising gala, and I was so glad she won! I loved being able to photograph this family session!

Family Adventure Portrait Session

Jodi, Trent and Drake joined me for an Adventure Shoot! This type of family photo session includes two to three activities to enjoy while we take amazing, unique portraits with real fun, real smiles, and real laughter. For this session, we started with the balls in the studio. I loved how Drake and Trent had so much fun rolling around through the ball pit. There were about 1300 balls and the boys got to choose the color. Then, we had some fun with silly string. Jodi was a good sport and the boys had a blast. They loved to goof off and getting mom with that silly string was hilarious.

After the studio portraits, we made our way to nearby Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream. We made sure to get some family photographs in there! The cones they got were only single scoops! I can’t even imagine how huge a double scoop cone would be. Trent and Drake loved to cuddle with their mom, play, run and have fun. They kept throwing their hats high up into the air and tried to catch them on their heads. By the end of our photo session… they got pretty good at it!

I’m so happy that I got to meet this sweet family. There’s something so special about the love between a mother and her sons, and it was such a treat to photograph this family together. Jodi, thank you so much for bringing your boys to the studio for this fun adventure shoot. This was such a fun photo session! My favorite times to photograph children are when they are having a blast and it was clear that the boys had fun.

Indianapolis Family photography

If you would like to have an adventure shoot with your children, I would love to hear from you! The Indy Family Photo Studio is open by appointment, but you can always feel free to stop by to see if we are in. Our photo studio is located just above Porter Books & Bread and I would love to get a chance to photograph your children’s unique personalities!

Senior Rep Photoshoot - Indianapolis Senior Portrait Time!

All of the Indy Family Photo senior shoots are styled with a little bit of extra flair - whether it’s a fascinating location, or rented gowns, or confetti, or a paint party, we’re ready to make your vision come true! And with an indoor studio ready for your use, there are so many possibilities. Today, I wanted to share with you a confetti & balloon shoot that we did with the senior rep team. We had an absolute blast!

If you or your teen is looking for an unforgettable experience, and completely unique portraits, we would love to work with you.

Holiday Vibes

Are you ready for the holidays yet? Hanukkah has started, and there are only 14 more shopping days until Christmas! I don’t know about you, but it always sounds like a lot at the beginning of December, but then those days disappear so quickly! As I’m wrapping up all of the holiday sessions, I’m popping in to share this one with you. Holly, Justin, and their darling little Ellie came into the studio to create some holiday images. I’ve been photographing them for years, and she’s grown up so much! There is a pretty flower wall set up in the studio right now, which is perfect for winter photo sessions with our unpredictable Indiana weather. I’m leaving the flowers up for the time being, since these portraits look pretty no matter what the season - so if you’d love a session with this ambience, I’d love to have you!

Lifestyle Photoshoot: Inside our Indianapolis Studio

Not ready for a photoshoot in your home? That's ok, we've got you covered! You can still get that cozy, lifestyle feel by hanging out in our studio. We've got a family bed, perfect for snuggles (or some jumping!). Holly and Justin brought their sweet baby Ellie to the historic studio for this shoot, taking advantage of the exposed brick and homey feel. We also ventured outside at the end for a bit of that fall color, without needing to spend the entire session out in the cold. Ellie even brought out her raspberry blowing skills for the session!

Indianapolis Senior Photography: Fall Color

Let's dig out one of my favorite fall photoshoots, shall we? Nigel had his senior photoshoot at a park in the near nothside of Indianapolis, where the fall color is chalk-full of yellow and gorgeous fall color. We even snuck his sister in there for a shot for mom (they are basically models!). In addition to the leaves and forest shots, we brought in some architectural elements. Recognize those ruins? It's Holiday Park! Fun fact: full fall color in Indianapolis is Halloween. Nigel, I hope you're enjoying college!

Outdoor Farm Maternity Shoot in Indianapolis

Three adorable boys? Check. Perfect pregnant belly? Check. Completely in love couple? Check and check! This maternity shoot was focused on family, family, family - they were growing by one, and ended up adding a girl to all of those boys! How exciting! This styled shoot took place at the Fixer Upper farm, northeast of Indianapolis. The farm was the perfect backdrop for this gorgeous shoot. They snuggled in a grove of trees, looked at horsies, and played with a picnic quilt. Those boys loooove their daddy, and my favorite shot is when Dad and his sons are all tickling each other! Lindzi, we hope your boys are busy loving on their sister!

A Darling Indianapolis Newborn on White

I had the honor of photographing Colby and her gorgeous daughter, Abriana. Colby is extremely studious and was actually set to graduate barely after her due date! Luckily, she was able to attend her graduation, making little Abriana the world's best graduation present. I was excited to use my new bonnet for this sweet babe, and she was nice and sleepy for some photos with mom. Colby, you are gorgeous and so is your darling daughter!

Indianapolis Lovebirds: Anniversary Photoshoot

Brian and Penny wanted to commemorate their 25th wedding anniversary in an incredibly special way - after vacationing in Ireland, I styled a photoshoot for them. It had an engagement/wedding vibe to it, but with darker colors, to keep things fresh.

We created most of the images inside the historic studio - Indianapolis can be killer hot in the summer, and this was an exceptionally humid evening! Penny asked for some cozy, casually romantic (and cuddly!) photos on the studio bed; then we created more formal shots - some of them on our Victorian couch, with a fabulously James Bond feel.

We finished up by sneaking outside for just a few images in the courtyard, and then in a field behind the studio. Located near Fort Benjamin Harrison, there are a ton of beautiful outdoor areas for us to pick from!

Penny and Brian, you guys are amazing and your love just radiated the entire session. Here's to the next 25 years!

Indianapolis Newborn Session: Fall Baby Boy

I absolutely loved photographing Andrea's family - her little guy was such an amazing sleeper! They came into the photography studio when he was s sweet 10 days old. I absolutely love placing newborns on minimalist white, black, and gray backgrounds, to keep all of your focus on baby. I can't wait to take some first birthday photos of this little one!
